Jim:

My mechanic claims to hold the record time from Moscow to Lewiston (old Lewiston grade - something like 21 minutes). Had a Camaro Z28. He was once stopped by the Idaho State Patrol just south of the Genesee Flats. "Do you know how fast you were driving, son". "No, I'm not sure, but usually I drive about 125 through here". Officer folded up his ticket book, and walked away, shaking his head. Said mechanic does not have a hair that is not gray (or white) though.

Geez Bill, I used to drive that fast on your local roads. Some were not even
paved yet. Those were crazy days but very exciting times in Moscow. I still
get adrenaline surges at the thought of it all. /jim

Bill:

I think that your "cure" would be worse than the "disease".

Alas, the moth ball smell remains, but it is slowly diminishing. I have:
1. Removed the seat, and shot repeatedly with Febreez.
2. Cleaned the carpet with a rug shampoo machine.
3. Installed open boxes [2] of Arm and Hammer baking soda.
4. Filled a large box with charcoal briquettes, and installed on the
passenger side floor.
5. I go out every night, and give the cab a good spray of Ozium.

Walt W. suggested a 100 mph "air out". "Freddie the Wonder Truck" (FWT)
has 460 cubic inches (7.5 litre), so this velocity is theoretically
possible. Unfortunately, FWT's speedometer only goes to 80 mph, so the
last 20 could only be determined by estimation and dead reckoning.
That, combined with 24 year-old suspension parts and North Idaho roads
have precluded that option.

The next step is to find an ozone machine to rent.

Minor OM content: I sniped a Panagor 2X convertor from O-Boy! for $8.
I had planned to remove the glass, and use it as an extension tube. It
showed up yesterday, in a nice leather case, and Olympus body and rear
caps. Looks to be unused - too nice to gut <sigh>.

Speaking of nuggets, did Bill Stanke
ever
get the moth ball smell out of his truck? How?
