Since I bought my first new Olympus camera in 1964/5 (an Olympus Pen-D), I
have bought many Olympus cameras. The only three cameras that have had an
incapacitating failure are the three that I bought new; the Pen-D after
about four years, an OM-2S that I bought in 1985 and failed four years
later, and just a couple of days ago my iS-3000 that I also bought new 2
1/2 years ago. Almost none of my used cameras have needed other than minor
adjustments.

The OM-2S suddenly locked up whilst I was loading a film; cost around $125
to fix (repair report said something about the motor drive
contacts/circuits, which I did not use...

The iS-3000 has been pretty good; great lens, great flash with the G-40
additional flash, really accurate metering. Just went dead in the middle of
a film; the only thing that seems to work now is the mid-film rewind
button. The zooming suddenly went funny just before total failure....I
suspected battery failure, but new batteries did not help.
