I was about to reply that I owned one, but then I checked my own website and
realized I have the Tokina SD 35-200. Still haven't shot with the darn thing,
but it seems like a nice lens.

> Moose,
>
> Is the Tamron 28-200 availabe in the Adaptall mount? If true, I
didn't know that.

> >I suspect there haven't been many replies because it's such a
difficult
> >question.
> >
> >The closest thing to an all round winner for me is the Tamron
35-105/2.8
> >but, like the Zuiko 35-80/2.8, it just doesn't focus close enough
for
> >me, to be an all purpose lens.
> >
> >If I'm going to go slower, it'll be the 35-70/3.5-4.5 if I want
small
> >size and weight, Tokina AT-X 35-200/3.5-4.5 or Tamron Asph IF
> >28-200/3.8-5.6 if I want reach. The Zuiko 35-105/3.5-4.5 is too
> >'in-between for me', not a tiny lens, but not much reach.
> >
> >I could go on, but my answer is clearly "it depends".

> >>The Zuikos consist of:
> >>
> >>35-70/4
> >>35-70/3.6
> >>35-70/3.5-4.5
> >>35-70/3.5-4.8
> >>35-80/2.8
> >>35-105/3.5-4.5
> >>
> >>The f/3.6 is supposedly the best except for the late, f/2.8
zoom. I like the f/3.5-4.5 for it's tiny size and the f/2.8 for it's image
quality. Many rave about the 35-105. The f/3.5-4.8 is Cosina-made.
> >>
> >>Tamron has made several that are very nice, especially the SP
28-105/2.8 and 35-105/2.8. I also had an SP 28-80/3.5-4.5 for several years
that produced very nice images.

> >>>Hi Zuiks:
> >>>
> >>>A lister on the Leica list commented that he had purchased
a Leica R 6.2,
> >>>and was very happy with the zoom lenses he had
purchased. He noted that his
> >>>other system was OM, and "OM has only one decent
zoom". I assume that this
> >>>was a reference to the 35~80 f/2.8.
> >>>
> >>>Any other nominees for stellar zoom? To make this less
impossible, let's
> >>>limit it to the "wide to short tele" category.
> >>>
> >>>I've only taken a few shots with my new Zuiko 35~70 /f4,
but it looks
> >>>promising. The Tamron 35~70 f/3.5 is a dandy, and also
has a macro
> >>>capability. The Tokina 28~70 also has macro, but is a bit
"plastic" for my
> >>>taste. The Kiron 28~105 is a stellar lens. If only it
were faster and
> >>>lighter...
> >>>
