Sorry Joel, we have loads of castles of various sizes and I have not come across this one. Which way would the normal staircase turn then? If it is for the higher swordsman it would go up/right; if for the lower it would go up/left...

You don't happen to know the castle (I think it was a castle), do you? I'm guessing it was in Yorkshire or elsewhere up north.
