Hmmm,
What are you drinking, Tom? ;-)

Sipping Sambuca here.

I have 2 OM dedicated Sunpak flashes. Auto 30DX and Auto 433D. The flashes
are essentially the same. The 30 has a bulkier base supporting the shoe that
appears interchangeable and marked OT-1D "For Olympus OM02-1N-10 Cameras and
all other hot shoe mount regular cameras". The 433 has no OM markings on it.
Both have 3 contact hot shoes. The 30 has a lit button marked 'auto off
reset'. This flash apparantly has an energy saving shutdown mode. Both have
switchable power from full-1/2-1/4-1/8-1/16. Both will run from an AC HV
connector. Both have 'auto ok' light and 'ready/test' light/button. Both
have swivel/tilt heads and seem to be from the same castings in every way.

Now Tom, here's what you want to know: On the back there are 5 slider
settings.
1. Manual (Full dump)
2. Red 'A' (smallest aperture)
3. Yellow 'A (mid aperture)
4. Green 'A' (largest aperture)
5. Blue flash (TTL mode)

With the flash handheld and not connected to an OM, the #1 and 5 settings
result in a full dump. 2-4 result in decreasing amounts of light when
pointed at the same subject.

With both flashes in mode 5, the flash ready light on the OM-2SP lights when
the flash is ready, but that light doesn't indicate sufficient flash
illumination as it would with a T series flash. The 'auto ok' indicator on
the flash back tells you if there was enough light. The over/under
indicators in the viewfinder do react if the exposure is not correct.

Also remember that you must have film in the camera if you expect the
camera/flash to react properly in TTL OTF flash mode.

Hope this helps!
-Mickey

No.
