 The 50/1.4 I've got has a s/n somewhere in the 400,000s if I remember
correctly, and, to be honest, I can't see anything to object to about it.
That said, I've not tried enlarging things to 20x30 from the negatives, but
for 4x6s, it's not obviously worse than any other lenses I've got.
