In a message dated 8/21/2002 Johnny Johnson drifts the following fly down
the riffle:

<< I haven't found a shutter/highlight feature yet but, of course, the
C-3040
has a standard feature that's much better than what's available on the
OM-4/4t. You just look at the image on the monitor as you compose the
picture with the spot on the important part of the scene and bump the
exposure compensation up or down to correct the color as desired. Instead
of the gross adjustments that's available with the hi-light/shadow buttons
on the OMs you can adjust in 1/3 stop increments and get instant feedback.

I raised to the surface and struck at the first fly. But this cagey old
brown trout is hip to your drift and won't rise again ;-) Oh why not. It's
almost a full moon and all in good fun anyway.

For the life of me I can not imagine the C-3040 having a metering system any
better than found in an E-10 (but it is possible--multi spot is cool
assuming it can easily be used). I can say from (a lot of) first hand
experience that the E-10 AE metering system does not even come close to a
professional OM body for speed and accuracy. I found out the hard way the
difference between "predictive AE" and OTF AE. Predictive (as found in the
Olympus digitals) falls flat on it's face. I'm glad you find the display
useful on the C-3040. I find the E-10 display useless for anything except
menu screens, rough composition, and rough exposure accuracy--thank goodness
it has a SLR viewfinder.

BTW, many OM Bodies do have 1/3 stop exposure compensation dials. Sounds
like you haven't used an OM much. Instant feedback is great--while you're
learning. *Knowing* what you're going to get based on experience will get
the cagey fish every time though. Sorta like a stocked rainbow vs a native
brown.

Doh! I just broke the tippet off your leader and stole your fly ;-)
