Why is the lens shade "petal" shaped (for want of a better
term) on the E-10/E-20 and many other higher end cameres?

The lens-front is round, but the film-frame is square,
so the shade is petal-shaped to maximize it's shading
while avoiding vignetting in the corners of the frame.

It also looks quite sexy, though I'm not sure why <g>
