Actually, now that you mention it, I just tried this, and you're right.
Amazingly unscientific test conditions: put 24/2 on camera, focus as close
in as possible on center of monitor, look at corners through viewfinder
(thus wide open).
I can't see any loss of sharpness -- granted, this is the worst way
imaginable to judge this, but it looks pretty good all the way to the
corners for me.

focussing on a monitor close up..)
