Well, summer came back to our part of England, so I took pity on an
underused roll of Velvia and did my wife a favour - I photographed
some of her lovely flowers ... the sacrifices I make eh? Well, there
were no Apache gunships handy :>)

I started off on a large purple poppy, and the 35/2 can really get in
close. Then I used the 85/2 on them and the orange poppies. There
were some little Canterbury Belles which I took in isolation, again
with the 85/2. But for the little Nigellas, I had to get out the
macro lens, the sometime-maligned Tamron 90/2.8. Whatever some of
you say, it is lovely to use: it's plastic so it's light and it has
many blades (9) so the out-of-focus highlights are soft and
attractive, and it is really sharp through the viewfinder.

I also got out the battered old 200/4 for a blackbird which was
tweeting madly in the old plum tree. In waiting for it to open its
beak and sing again, I lost the shot as it flew away - now perhaps a
smaller 200/5 would not have frightened it so...

Oh well, off for some driving practice with my son (and I don't mean
golf!); I think I'll take the camera bag (Billingham 206 with
backpack straps for anyone who is still following that thread) as a
"comfort blanket".

Cheers

Chris
