GM made a small aluminum V8 for one of the new "compact" Buicks in
'62 or '63. I
don't think it worked out too well.
This Buick V8 is still highly sought and valued as a high performance light
engine in NZ - for cars and jet-boats.

Rover also used it for many years. About six months ago I saw it was
being used as a production engine currently for something else, but I
can't remember what it was.
