The Zapruder film is just about the only photographic evidence we have
of the Kennedy assassination. We use it even today, almost 40 years
after the event. Yet no one would consider the film of high quality. In
other words, the fact that your UI is used today is not a reliable indicator
of its quality. The fact that management won't allow anyone to rewrite
it may speak volumes regarding the early experiences of management
with software. Please note that I am not saying that your UI was faulty,
just that your analogy was flawed.

I have never denigrated the data. To the contrary, it is some of the most
useful Olympus data to be found on the Internet, along with Gary Reese's
lens test data. Gary's UI design is classic, however.
