Steve--it really depends on shooting style. Kodak F5 based DCS cameras
are not the best weapon of choice for motorsports, but then neither are
an E-10 or OM-4T and I seem to manage to do okay with them.

You want high resolution and blinding "wunderbrik" speed get a D1X (make
that two--nobody carries only one body) and an assortment of high end
Nikkor lenses. I estimate the total basic kit cost to be around $20k or
more. You could do it "on the cheap" with a couple used D30 bodies and
some used Can*n "L" glass and pull it off for around $10-12k. Still too
rich for me (but a few more usage sales like the one I made today and
life could get better <g>).

When shooting motorsports with the E-10 I find myself having to wait
sometimes for the buffer to dump. The buffer only stores four shots. I
call it a "rest period" ;-). I shoot in 2.7:1 JPEG mode (mostly) and
don't have to wait too long or too often since I shoot the E-10 exactly
the same way I shoot with my OMs, thinking about each shot and one frame
at a time. Shutter reaction time (provided you are prefocused) is the
same as my OMs for all practical purposes--I go back and forth with no
disruption to my timing (which is *very* important to me).

I use an E-10 to supplement my film shooting. If I were 100 0igital I
would use at least a D-30 or D1 most likely (blasphemy I know--why do
you think I'm so anxious to hear what Olympus is going to release for
the new digital SLR system???)
