[OM] winder 2 problem

Subject: [OM] winder 2 problem

I did a job yesterday where I photographer 24 people individually with a
studio set up.
One shot of each person to be delivered without proofs.
The problem I had was that about halfway through, the winder seemed to not
synch with the flash or the shutter. Once the mirror locked up till I wound
on another frame.
On another few the winder just didn't sound right (shorter than usual
whine). I think the lock up was just insufficient exposure because the flash
did not synch.
The last few seemed to be fine.
I reshot all that were suspicious and checked the batteries when I got home.
To check the batteries I put them in a T-32 and counted how long they took
to
recycle at full dump. Is this a worthwhile test?
Any ideas? I do not have the pictures back yet to see what if anything is
messed up.

Equipment was a OM1 with winder 2 and 85 f2. Studio lighting was a single
monoblock unit with umbrella. PC connector was used in the traditional
manner.
