I was using Ilford Inkjet Photo Paper - Heavyweight Glossy. The
right image looks lovely on it.
I am considering buying a 1290. Based on your experience with your
1270 would you recommend it, or should I save up for a Canon S9000
(which had an excellent write-up in the last Amateur Photographer
here in the UK)?

I had the same problem with the older Ilford papers, but the new Galerie
series of papers work very well with my 1270.
