Thanks to all who responded and provided the wake up call I needed.  I
realized I was not thinking clearly when I got up this morning and saw the
remains of my last project that should have been easy to clean.  How hard
could it be to fix the contacts on a remote control for a TV?  Fortunately
the repair (read: new remote) was not very expensive.  A 4t on the other
hand...

I'll be running some more tests and send it in for a CLA one of these days.

Note, also, that most "very old classics" have very little in the way of
electronics, and are not ususally packed so full. I have torn apart and
repaired
a number of older cameras up to and including the OM-1 & 2. I would
never make
the attempt on a 4!
