Dear list members:

Many thanks for the compliments and criticisms on the site. I have
taken your advice under consideration and am in the process of modifying
some of the functions to perform a little better.

Conceptually, I would like the site to operate in a cyclic manner rather
than as a node with many branches. There are 3 perspectives that I
would like to offer the visitor for viewing.

The first is an almost 2 dimensional view whose navigation is abstract
and limited to a few choices. This can be seen in the first few pages
where one decides to either go to "portfolio", "asides" or "journal".
>From each of these pages, the visitor should make a series of choices
that will lead them to a particular understanding of the site.
Sometimes these choices will bring one back to where they began, but it
will always be a result of one's choices and I hope that they will see
information in a different light, or at least with more information than
they had before. I see this similar to the book "Hopscotch" by Cortezar
where there are two ways to be guided through a series of events, and
how you understand character development and relationships depends on
what information you were given first, and what you want to believe as
true.

The second layer is what I refer to as the "worms-eye perspective" where
one is able at certain moments to go beneath the surface of the image
and understand the conditions of the photograph (e.g. site, time of day,
equipment and settings, description on the subject, etc.) so that they
may begin to learn how I have chosen what to photograph, and why I have
photographed it that particular way. There are many re-occurring
subjects whose attitude changes dramatically with the different
photographs.

The third layer has not really been developed, but I hope that it would
give the vantage point of a "bird's-eye perspective" where one would be
able to see relationships on a larger scale, and throughout the site as
a whole. I liken these almost to look-out towers scattered among the
site where the viewer can look both at the work previously done, and
ahead to the next installment of photographs. I hope to update the site
w/ new images at least on a quarterly basis.

Please be sure to check the site regularly for these new developments,
and the refinement of the above concepts. As always, your comments are
welcome and much appreciated. Thank you again for all of your comments
and help in developing the site thus far.

Bob Gries
