My first OM was a black OM-1 MD. I bought it used, with a silver-nosed
50/1.8, for about $100 when I was a freshman in high school. It was my
first SLR, having previously used my dad's Olympus 35-S range finder. I
still have that OM-1 and use it regularly. The OM-1 went to John H. for a
CLA and battery conversion a couple of years ago, and was my only camera
for about 10 years. A grief stint behind the counter of a camera
specialty shop infused me with an OM-2S, then I found this list and it
was all over. 6 Bodies, a dozen lenses, and counting. That original OM-1
has always been a real workhorse, even though now most of my frames are
shot with an OM-4 or an OM-2S.
I always liked these kind of threads. I'm looking forward to reading
other members' histories.
