Mark and Charles,

That may be true of the 'average' 2X, but this one isn't average. The
Vivitar Macrofocusing teleconverter is discussed pretty regularly.  It is
really a slick thing.  The focusing works very well -- converting a normal
lens to a macro lens.  It works with lots of lenses, so you can be very
creative.  I've owned a couple and I am pretty sure they are safely in the
hands of list members now (speak up folks, tell your experiences).

They come up pretty regularly on ebay -- for around $50.
