I definitely am horrified at the whole disaster in the US. Do hope as well
the attacks stop as of now. My sympathies go out for all those who have
perished and so on with their families, friends etc. Such violence cannot be
justified under any circumstances indeed.

Allow me to comment though on Jim's wish for an effective solution. Often,
what is effective is not easy. It has been many times said that terrrorism
is a result of the alienation of parts of society. This we see all over the
world, my country too has this problem as you have seen in the news
 kidnappings etc). Only cooperation among nations at reducing poverty,
inequality, access to education etc will gradually reduce the spectre of
"terrorism." I can only wish that leaders take greater efforts to pursue
this objective. Above all we cannot afford to take rash actions....
