I recently purchased a Winder 2 to use with my OM4 and ON2n's. I decided
that I didn't need an MD1 or 2 as I didn't need 5 fps - just power winding
with the 300mm to save taking my eye off a scene.
Right after this there was a lot of talk on the list of how much better the
MD1 is than the Winder. Especially about how much smoother the MD1 is (the
winder is certainly a bit like a diesel motor drive.)
I thought I could resist this - I'm not a Zuikoholic - but the other day I
saw a like new MD1 on a shelf in a shop. It doesn't have the nicad pack or
a charger. Just say, theoretically, that I was to buy this. What is a
reasonable price ? Will I be able to get the 15V pack and a charger (220V)
separately, and what will they cost ?
I do have two NIB motor drive relay cords in a draw, so I would get some
use out of them, and I could probably sell the Winder 2 to a true
Zuikoholic who needs both that AND the motor drive.
Finally, when I use the Winder on the OM4, what happens if I fire the
camera from the winder's release button without switching the cameras meter
on first with it's own shutter release ? Do I get normal auto metering ?
