Hi guys:

I personally I haven't gotten used to the feel of my "new" OM-2n yet.
My first impression when taking it out of the box was that it felt like
it was about a half inch too short! I can't explain it. My OM-1 and
OM-2S feel fine in comparison. I have the Grip 1 on the 2S, but it
feels better, even with the grip removed.

Next, when I installed the strap, I couldn't get it to hang properly.
The body wanted to "point up" regardless of which lens I had installed.
I experimented with all of the rings that I had lying around. I finally
cannibalized the rings off of an OM-1 parts camera that were smaller in
diameter. This helped, but did not cure the problem. I noticed a
number of rub marks on the bottom plate. Hmmm, had this body been used
with a winder/motor all its life? Installed a Winder 2 to check out
this theory. yes! Now I had something to grip, and the extra weight
greatly improved the "hangeability" from the strap.

Finally, ("shields up Mr. Sulu!")I think that removable hot shoes are a
stupid idea. Almost every used shoe is cracked, because the installer
has zealously over tightened the shoe. Dealers strip off the shoe, so
they can charge extra for it. The removable shoe probably generated a
lot of Bounce Grip 2 sales. This would be okay, except Olympus forgot
to install the TTL connector on the OM-2[n], forcing you to either
install the ugly and weird-looking TTL autoconnector, or use a shoe with
the TTL auto shoe cord. The inventors of TTL flash could have made it a
little easier to actually use a flash, without spending $50 extra on
miserable little easy to lose gizmos.

Bill, who is now pushing the "send" button, and waiting for the flames
to shoot out of his monitor!
