This one had me rolling on the floor :) Still my
question, my challenge to all of you on this list is
to find me a product that slips on, clips on, snaps on
that allows me to use a filter for the front to
protect the front element from freak damage. Im
paranoid about these things ever since I was
photographing a beautiful sunset in the Badlands Nat'l
Park in South Dakota (I highly recommend seeing this
wonderful park filled with natural architecture). I
had set up my camera to the side of the road with a 28
2.8 promaster lens (not zuiko but very good) I was
just about to get a wonderful shot when a car came by,
kicking up a rock right into the lens. That rock
smashed the front element and I was furious. I've made
a vow to myself never to have that kind of thing
happen to me again. If I have to stretch a piece of
plastic over the front so be it (I've done it before
when I took pictures of Niagra falls from the Maid of
the Mist and although there is a degradation of
picture quality it is acceptable.
