Yeah, that's the time to make sure the beeper is off and to avoid using the 
self-timer and display light!

This saves a bit of power to let you use the meter for a while before the 
shutter locks up!

Then if you're desperate, you might meter in manual mode to see what aperture 
you can use with Mechanical 1/60th, and switch over to Mechanical 1/60th to 
take a shot or two!

This is assuming that you are in the middle of the Outback on a Sunday 
afternoon and the aliens have just landed in front of you!
