Hi,

Popping in a little bit late:

Furthermore, I was interested in means of working around reciprocity
failure in general.
Any ideas?

This can be done by exposing the film to hydrogen gas for about 12 to 24 hours (don't know the exact duration). How to do this at home? Put the films in a high pressure cooking pan and connect it to a source of hydrogen! In many astronomy books this technique is described. Especially with some B&W films the results are amazing. But do not worry, even without these sophisticated tricks nice results can be obtained. This picture of M101 is taken on an ordinary Ektachrome 400:

Believe it or not, it's a lousy scan...
