That Tamron model (71A) is short and fat (78.6x81.5), with a 72mm filter, and
weighs only 516g.
Macro ratio is 1:9.5, so no macro shots! Not an SP.
The better Tamrons are SP's; SP model 23A is a 60-300/3.8-5.4, long and thin
(68x166), 62mm filter, 926grams, max. macro ratio 1:1.5. A number of Oly list
members appear to own one, and it has an excellent reputation. It was
manufactured from 1983-2000, but is still in Tamron-s current catalogue
apparently.
I also own an SP 35-105/2.8; also extremely good.

So far I've kept the faith and have only Zuiko lenses (well, the Tamron 2x
doesn't really count, does it?) but browsing photgraphic magazines there are
lots of tempt me ads for various superzooms. These are obviously more
convenient (but heavier I presume). Tamron make a 28-200 f3.8/5.6 Super
(Adaptall 2) - how does this compare with the average Zuiko? Are there others
brands? Do any of you dare admit to using one?
