I used this kind of setup a long time ago, and I hope that my memory
serves me well enough to answer your question. If not, I will
certainly be corrected by other list members....

The camera can only regulate the duration of the light coming from the
flash connected by cable.
But it will take into account all light reaching the film, including
that of the remote flash, when calculating the flash duration of the
main wired flash.
If you make sure that the amount of light coming from the remote flash
is small enough to avoid overexposure, everything will be fine. 
The camera will regulate the light of the cabled flash, needed in
addition to the fixed contribution of the remote flash, to give a good
exposure. 
BTW, the OM2N will warn you in case of overexposure in this set-up
too.
