I assume your friend means the P20000, the 870/1270 still have color shift 
problems caused by atmospheric pollution. In fact, Epson has stopped 
advertising them as *archival* and now calls them *lightfast*. They are also 
buying back printers from customers who complain enough. This subject is 
thoroughly discussed on the Web.

<<I have a friend who is a professional photographer in Ohio.  He's planning
to switch to the new Epson system for his prints which he claims are not
water soluble and are suppose to have a longer life than normal photographic
prints.  I did read that Epson was having problems with a magenta shift in
humid areas.  However, this problem was suppose to have been solved.  BTW -he 
is still using conventional cameras and film - he has no plans to go
digital in that area.>>
