[OM] bits and pieces ...

Firstly ...

1. Own it but it's not THAT great - F280 FP sync flash - I rarely ever use
it, but the bastard makes me keep it because its daylight fill when you
happen to have fast film in the 4Ti is just amazing. I'd rather have
bounce/tilt/swivel and slow/rear curtain sync any day. Sigh. This means even
owning BOTH the F280 and the T32 doesn't give me all these features - why I
switched systems TWICE dontcha know (I have, of course, switched BACK ... :)

2. Own it but rarely use it - 65-200 zoom. Fab lens, way sharp and
contrasty, but doesn't actually balance that well on an OM without a
drive/winder. With one may be a different story, but as I'm a "manual
cocker" these days, I wouldn't know.

Also, I picked up a (cosmetically) average (mechanically) fine OM2N minus
it's shoe 4 buddy + late MIJ 50mm 1.8 for 120 AUD yesterday. That's $US
65.00 at yesterday's (pissweak) exchange rate!!!! A bargain, I know, but I
fear I have been spoilt by my beloved 4Ti - though the 2N handles sweet
enough, the lack of spot meter is driving me batty. Yes, I know how to use
exposure compensation adequately enough in conjunction with CW metering, but
it's soooo much slower and NO EXP LOCK!!! Aaargh. This will be my
"landscapes and portraits" camera, methinks. Counting down the hours til I
"inherit" my friend's dad's OM3 ...

Has my long term love affair with the 4Ti spoiled me for other, non-"pro"
Olympii??

Also, I would very much like some list opinions on a couple of conundra:
first, my exp. comp dial on the 2N seems to travel through about 15 click
"positions" - odd, when the exp comp dial is marked as 2 stops up/down in
1/3 stop increments (meaning 12 "clicks" no?) Also, the number of "clicks"
above or BEYOND (!?!?) the "maximum" 2 stops up or down seems to vary after
I have changed the ISO setting and re-aligned the indicator bar to the
middle (metered exposure) position. What gives? Obi-wan Hermanson, help me
out!!!

Second, I've decided that the extra stop I gain with the 24mm f2 actually
does NOT make up for the extra hundred or so grams plus bulk when compared
with the 24mm f2.8 or 21 f3.5 - or am I just being picky? I know I voted it
my favourite lens last week, but that was more the focal length (which I've
adored for years) rather than the actual lens - which has performed
admirably in the short time I've had it. I'm hanging out to try the 18mm
f3.5 ... some day. Can anyone who has both the 24 f2 and 21/18 f 3.5's do a
comparison for me? Tom, you're about the only soul I can think of ... :) I
am also well aware of the 24mm f2's excellent re-sale potential :)

Just some thoughts from ...
Reuben
