| favorites is plastic.  Take a close look at your 35-70 3.5-4.5 if you have
| one.  The front element is held by a plastic cylinder.  Don't know if any
of
| the other parts of that particular lens are plastic or not, but I don't
| believe that most of the aperture rings I've seen are anodized.  An anodic
| coating doesn't generally leave that dark a hue of black.  I'm sure John
| will set us all straight shortly.

| remove the colored paint without removing the underlying black color. I
