: Here are are her non-negotiable requirements:
: Auto focus, auto exposure, small, light, weatherproof (she is a
: backpacker) wide-to-tele zoom, macro capabilities, tripod usable, and
: EASY TO USE..

The iS-200, iS-300 & Centurion (S) meet most demands except maybe the
weatherproof part. Serious macro should be done with a SLR camera and
although these cameras can't go any further than a 110mm lens set at 75cm
(iS-200, iS-300) or a 125mm lens set at 60cm (Centurion, APS focal length
converted to 35mm film format) these capabilities can be extended with
close-up lenses.

The Centurion is an APS camera and is the smallest and lightest SLR there
is.

If weatherproof is more important than 'what you see is what you get'
(macro) capabilities, and you can live with their slow lenses, you could
have a look at the Mju Zoom cameras.

Of course the iS-3000 is also still available...

Oh, forgot: my iS/L page has more info about the 200/300/3000. Soon to be
added: the Centurion (because I bought the kit recently for a nice price).
