Will the seller allow you to take a few test photos to help you decide?
Seems reasonable for the money involved.
You might also ask the manufacturer or other repair person for an estimate
for repairing the lens (whether this involves polishing the front element,
if possible, or replacing it).

I stumbled upon a 350 for sale....the front element has 4 or
5 one inch long scratches that do not appear to be very deep, but are
easily
visible when viewed from the front of the lens and are also visible when
viewed from the lens mount end.
