Well it's getting that time again--time to plan our pilgrimige to the
wonderful land of Michigan to escape from the cares of this world and spend
some quality time with family, friends and film.

Last week in September (color peak) we will be vacationing in northern
Wisconsin (great little lake to camp on), visit the Porcupine Mountains,
head up to Copper Harbor, explore waterfalls and drift over to the TQ falls
and then go to Mackinaw Island. Mackinaw Island is wonderful in the fall
and it is very pleasant without 3 million other visitors running you down
on the rental bicycles or runaway horses. We'll be sure to take in a few
lighthouses along the way, maybe even pop up to Whitefish Point (humming
tunes of Gordon Lightfoot). Finally, we will drift down the west side of
Michigan, visit my folks in Whitehall, chat with my best friend that just
completed a coast-to-coast bicycle trip and then head back westward to
watch the corn harvest.

Gotta love new jobs that come with one-week of vacation right out of the
chute!

Anyway, I'm planning up my photographic attack and will most likely leave
the medium format equipment behind because of space limitations but will
shoot mostly Provia-F and T400CN. I'll get some Portra VC for the family
camera (IS-3). However, I have half a brick of frozen Velvia in 120 that I
need to use up some year...

I was hoping to get some new camera equipment prior to the trip, but will
need to put that on hold as cash is tight yet. I was thinking that an
OM-4T with 90/2 would be a nice combination to add to the harem, but would
have to sell off some things that I'd rather not at this time.

I'm getting excited thinking about the clear blue skies, the bold Lake
Superior (and cold), no flies (why else would you do the UP in the fall?),
vivid colors, waterfalls, etc., etc.
