I got a free copy of Silverfast with my recent purchase of a Polaroid
scanner. I'd heard good things about it since my early days fighting with
the Nikon LS-20 and NikonScan. It was apparently bundled with Nikon scanner
sold in continental Europe and cost more than Photoshop in the USA. I
lived without it.

It is a very fine, powerful interface. But the best bang for buck has got
to be Vuescan, now at version 6.0.3. I feel like a bandit having paid only
$40 for it.
