To further (or confuse) the cause, here's a list of Zuikos with the "MC" designation from my - presumably - 1978 manual: 18/3.5; 24/2; 28/2; 35/2; 50/3.5 macro; 35-70/3.6; 85/2; 135/2.8; 180/2.8; 200/4; 400/6.3; 600/6.5; 1000/11; 20/3.5 macro; 38/3.5 macro; 80/4 macro.

Nope, no "MC" designation for any of the normal lenses. And nowhere that I can find does the manual specifically state that "MC" represents multi-coated.

Supposedly muddy water makes it easier to catch fish. Or gather no moss. Somethin' like that.

I'm fairly certain that the 75-150 was the only Oly zoom that ever was SC.
All other zooms were always MC. My 1984 edition of The OM System Lens
Handbook clearly says that the 75-150/4 was multicoated (quote: "Optical
construction: 15 elements in 11 groups, multi-coated" end quote). I believe
that the last of the 75-150's were multi-coated, but they seem to be fairly
rare.

Hope this clears things up a bit (yes, I'm being sarcastic),
