Lex, - ebay from the buyers point!
As camera collector I use ebay a lot with various searches, standard
categories or own words, eg "olympus" "half frame" "pen". I also am
expanding my Olympus camera sub collection, and items on ebay are just not
available back home!

When I search, speed, effective titles and descriptions are of the
essence, I have no interest in fancy goo gaas, preddy liddle whadevers,
jazzy music.... it loads fast that's fine, it loads slow,
unless subject title is very specific and of strong (repeat STRONG)
interest, I back out and go to the next item - that is to say, that seller
has lost a potential bidder.

But all is not cut & dried of course, some sellers have entertaining
decorative imaginative listings, but they load quick!

Some sellers use 3rd party systems for pictures, you click (AND WAIT!) to
see the picture, as above I'm out of there, I'm gone, they've lost me. Some
pictures are verrrrrry slllowwwww to load and a pain, by by=no buy! Other
pictures are too small or poorly done.

Pictures tell more than text, often I've viewed items seriously mistitled by
sellers lacking camera knowledge, good pictures show me what it is, thus I
bid. Indeed that is one of the fun things of ebay, sellers unaware of what
they have use poor descriptions / titles do not attract the attention they
should, leaving the way open for a knowledgeable person to get $100 worth
for $10-50! It does happen

Via ebay I got 2 examples of an early 50's Japanese folder camera rarely
seen, (only seen 2 in 10months) true value $usa65-100. One was described as
"european" and ommitted the model name, the picture told me all I needed,
bought $20, no other bidders.
Two was properly described attracted bids and cost me $51.

Extra cost items from my perspective are irrelevant, most auction sites seem
to have "Featured" lists, I ignore them because the items are repeated in
the full list. Having said that I like the bold text because it breaks up
the monotony, otherwise i ignore it! I sometimes use eBay gallery, to get
away from trying to interpret petty/ pathetic subject titles.
Long flowery text is yuk, quick short, sharp dot point, makes me look and
notice, I've backed out of many items due to irrelevant text, knowing that
there are stacks more items out there!
However (always exceptions you know?!) one seller includes stacks of story
telling, all sorts of unrelated pictures, but the actual item description is
red and easy to pick up, and he tells you that, and therefore I look, and
when I have time, I read further for fun......

So go for it -snappy ad - quick load picture - accurate description - go
that extra to make it easy for the buyer, and we'll look, otherwise...
There's plenty more out there, by by

"things I've advertised .. moving slowly, ....So I'm gonna try eBay.
I need a little advice...extra-cost options for sellers, like Gallery.
Which options do eBay veterans consider worth the extra money
and which don't seem worthwhile?"
