Hi, John!
I use an Epson Stylus Photo 1200 that I bought new last December, and It is
magnificent as far as output goes. I think it is the best of all that I
compared, slightly edging the HP, and blowing any of Cannon's stuff out of
the water totally. Of course, there are new models in all the maufacturers
since December, but I understand that Epson's newest is using dyes that
don't fade as quickly with time. Maybe I should have waited a few months!
The Epson was $400.00 and worth it! As far as "bang for the buck", are you
really getting that if you skimp on the printer?? With your digital camera,
scanner and software investment, it's like buying a high end
stereo/dbx/surround etc for your entertainment center and running it through
a pair of $29.98 Radio Shack Speakers!!! After all, the photos are what you
WANT to look at over and over again, right?
Good luck,
John

  Hello Everyone,
I've been considering going to a "digital darkroom" for color work. When
I got a new computer recently, I got one with enough memory, just in case.
Now my printer has died, and I'd like to get a really good photo quality
replacement. I've read hype on Canon, Epson, and HP (can't remember the
model #'s). If anyone has a strong opinion on which printer does the best
job, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Since money is an issue, I guess I'm
looking for the best bang for the buck. Once I take this step, I'll have a
scanner and the software to go.
  Regards,
  John Pendley
