The only purpose of these tabs, which actually can have different
shapes on different lenses, is to protect the rear element from
touching the surface when you place the lens somewhere with the rear
element down without a cap on it.
The tabs are spotwelded and can be pushed off by thumb with light
pressure needed. Sometimes this is done deliberately to make the lens
fit onto a 2xA or maybe another converter.
If you still have the tab it can be glued on with one tiny drop of
epoxy or super-glue. I do not know if replacement makes sense,
economically speaking...

This lens has hundreds (?) of little bearing balls inside. If you take
the lens apart, you probably will loose some of those. A wild guess o
mine is, that it has been put together again with som of the balls
missing - but I will be happy to stand corrected on this one if there
is a better explanation.

The 50 doesn't need any repair, and the zoom repair probably will be
too expensive....
This is the kind of lenses that I keep in the trunk of my car with a
beaten up OM-1 body. They are not my favorites, but in case of
emergency I can take pictures...

And to you, Kit Tom.
Had better wish you good morning at the same time (it is 9:14 am here
