First of all, great idea! I've thought of the competition issue a few
times, but felt it would only appeal to the Type A's amongst us (yes, I'm
definitely one).
Two points to disagree on and one question to ask.
Disagree #1-- the judging. My take is one photograph and have the judging
completed before we know who shot the photo. While this list has far less
politics and personalities than any other aspect of my life, you can't avoid
'em 'cause we're human. I vote strongly for the anonymous submittal.
#2 -- Judges in general. During the last ADITL I gained some wonderful
insights into all of the photos taken on my own, but even more insights and
ways of looking from many of the list members who posted comments to the
site. I'd like to see the photos judged exclusively by the comments made
from the listees. Perhaps implement a constraint that a comment made is a
vote for the photo? Multiple comments by the same listee on different
photos might be allowed, with the photo with the most comments being the
winner.
Question -- Who's buying the lens from B&H? Or did I miss that?
