I think it is Pentax who is moving into the niche left by Olympus in their
complete withdrawal from the SLR AF market. Take note of the following:

     * The ZX-5N has extremely simple (non LCD screen) controls,
including spot metering with hold switch, auto bracketing,
small petite and quiet--garnering high praise for it's elegant
user interface. All the Aria is and more.

     * Pentax is busily introducing high performance (and expensive)
           petite prime lenses--a 43F1.9, a 35F2.0 and a 77F1..8 (that's right
77mm it is) AF lenses that have received very high praise for
their optical and mechanical performance. The latter two
feature 49mm filter threads. The 77 has "9" diaphragm blades,
           a 7 element/6 group construction, .7meter close focus distance,
and of course--special emphasis on bokeh.

     * Promise of more "special" lenses to come.

     * Imminent arrival of 2 new pro/advanced oriented bodies.

It is too bad that Olympus dropped out.

Alex
