For what purpose do you need this films?

There a family of different films with different capabilities for
different purposes.
This films are special, so comparing them with conventional film is as
pointless as comparing Velvia with Delta 100. Of course, colour
saturation of the Delta is lower. ;-)

All films in common is they are based on B&W reversal technology (save
the "blue film").
With AGFAs Scala, the Polaroid films are the only B&W slide films
available today.

There a two types of B&W instant film:

High contrast, rated at 400/27° ISO, exposed at 200/24° ISO and with
halfed developing time, it can be used for half tone photography (at
still high contrast). The film base is clear.

Medium contrast, comparable to ordinary slide film. Grain is somewhat
more corse than todays 100/21° ISO B&W film, more comparable to 400/27°
ISO films. It´s a nice "smooth" grain, good for people photography. The
film base is coloured slightly blue.

As already mentioned, the colour films use the same technology (colour
filter) as the early Autochrome films and most of todays CCD colour
cameras.
Archival properties might be better than conventional film because of
the B&W silver technology used.
Due to the used filters, the colour slide films have higher base density
(they are darker) and show a lot of an very unusual "grain", very
similar to an colour TV.

The high contrast colour slide film (intended for the reproduction of
graphics) can be used to produce half tone images as well. I tried it
out on a grey overcast day with dull ilumination. The results were very
contrasty, colourfull slides with pronounced grain and very good blacks.

Regards

Richard
