Yes and no.

Not triggered by the rear curtain, because this would mean mayor changes
of the camera wiring.
But a long sync time with flash emission and following closing of the
shutter.

Well to make such photos, first cover the flash-ready-contact on the hot
shoe with some isolating tape. This will insure long sync times.
Then cover the sync contact of the hot shoe with a strip of paper, while
mounting the flash.

Press the trigger. What will happen now?

The camera opens the shutter for an long time exposure (if dark enough).
No flash emission.
When you think the background is well exposed and your object is
perfectly framed, pull the paper strip.
The flash starts and -important- will be TTL controlled by the camera.
When the camera thinks the exposure is well done, it will quench the
flash and imediate close the rear shutter curtain.

Voila, rear shutter sync. Might be usefull for some "creative"
techniques.

Works as well with FP flash.
