Skip,

I'm using the 50/1.2 almost exclusively these days. The 50/1.4 MC is
another favourite, but in my entirely subjective opinion, the 50/1.2 is
"better." I use it wide open often--both because I'm shooting in the dark
(literally and figuratively) and because I like the effect of its extremely
short DOF. Above 2.8-4 it is as sharp and contrasty as any lens I've ever
used.

It's a bit weighty and I'm always concerned that I'm going to scratch it
rather formidable front element--don't like to put filers on such a nice
optic unless it is for effect--but it is bright and allows for precise (if
sometimes finickity) focusing.

In all honesty, I've been thinking seriously about dumping my OM system.
21/28/35/50/90 more than covers my current needs and I could easily get by
w/ 35/50/90. As I've said before I like rangefinders; I use a Leica IIIf and
love it, so I'm looking at an M2/3/4/6--but am curious about the new Konica
release. Liquidating would help me to finance this switch. But the one lens
that keeps me hanging onto my battery chugging 0M4 is this 50/1.2. So for
now I'm in a holding pattern.

Anyway. Bottom line. My entirely unscientific advice is to get this lens.
Glen

Sorry
