I agree with (... upss) Phillip, (not John).

I use the 21mm/3.5 with fantastic results even with no panoheads and with 9
to 12 photos per point. If you like to stitch photos but not for panoramic
results but to create a bigger photo from others, then maybe it's a good
choice to shoot with the 50mm that Christopher suggest, but in generally I
thing that a wide angle lens is nessesary.
The photovista doing the best panoramic results from all programs that I
have test, even if the program it's not that fancy as other.
The cool 360 that John have use, it's not even good for stitching.

The Bogen quicktime head it's the best but it's not that easy to get it with
you all the time, too big too heavy and too many people looking you :)
Check this site www.outsidethelines.com for alternative options.

Personally I have create something like the descriptions on this site, but I
have take also many panoramic with not tripod or monopod, (but when I shot I
have in my mine the nodal point and try to shot correct photos with no
problem on stitch). The results for landscape photography and with not many
object very near to me, is the same as when use a tripod or monopod (!).

Now I create a site with all this panoramic results but it's not ready yet.
When I finish it I publish it to Internet and If you like I send an e-mail
to see the results on this panoramic. The subject is an archeological place
on Greece and I am developing a virtual walk for this. At this moment we are
finish with the panoramic part and we are creating the 3d map and objects.
