Hi guys,

Alright, all voting results are in, and have been processed.

The results were quite interesting, and I've received some great input. A
bit of an unforeseen "complication" arose when the suggestion came to get
back to the "real" ADITL theme as such.

I too now feel we should indeed do such a thing. The concensus seems to be
to have an ADITL event at set dates (tight shooting time frames) a year, and
then some other themed events in between. The frequency that has been
suggested for the ADITL event ranged from twice a year, to one every
equinox.

Now, for the themed events, the votes for the frequency were as follows:
6 times a year: 8 votes
4 times a year: 8 votes
3 times a year: 1 vote
2 times a year: 1 vote

So we have a tie between a frequency of a themed event once every 2 months
and once every 3 months. I think having a photographic event (whether themed
or ADITL) once every 2 months should be the maximum, so unless the list
overthrows this idea, I would suggest to have _something_ once every two
months.

The following votes have come in regarding the themes:
Bokeh: 9 votes
Night pictures: 8 votes
Self portraits: 5 votes
Abstract: 4 votes
Portraits: 3 votes
Macro: 2 votes
Sunsets: 2 votes
Human settlements: 2 votes
Trick pictures: 1 vote
Nature: 1 vote
Black & white: 1 vote
Other categories: none (at least they haven't particularly been voted for).

You will notice that the total amount of themes is bigger than the total
amount of votes for the frequency, which is because voting for multiple
categories was allowed.

I was a bit surprised to see that "self portraits" only came in at 3rd
position, I thought it would become a close tie between that theme and the
"bokeh" theme, but the votes say otherwise. A pleasant surprise was to see
that "night pictures" came in at 2nd position, as I myself very much like
that theme. :)

Now then, I suggest the following in dates and themes for the next timespan
of a year:

November 21st 1999: Self portraits
December 21st 1999: ADITL3 (anything goes, no theme)
February 21st 2000: Bokeh
April 21st 2000: Night pictures
June 21st 2000: ADITL4 (anything goes, no theme)
August 21st 2000: Abstract
October 21st 2000: Portraits
December 21st 2000: ADITL5 (anything goes, no theme)
Further dates to be determined later.

So, the rationale for the above is as follows:
-The whole idea was born out of the ADITL theme, so I've set the frequency
for that at twice a year, happening on the summer's and winter's equinoxes.
-To get a frequency of one event every two months, yet a themed one only 4
times a year, I've set the themed events at the 21st of the other "even"
months.
-The one and only reason for making an exception for the self-portrait theme
(even though it only came in in 3rd place) is that I think some people will
be very dissapointed to have to wait almost a year before that event takes
place. Besides, doing self portraits doesn't require too much originality
(or does it?) and should be a bit of a fun event to get to know each other
better.

The latter decision might cause some uproar, and I myself am not too keen on
doing a self-portrait anyway. So maybe the list/George has some good
suggestions?

As an alternative schedule (which would be a bit more in accordance to the
actual voting results), we could have the following:
December 21st 1999: ADITL3 (anything goes, no theme)
February 21st 2000: Bokeh
April 21st 2000: Night pictures
June 21st 2000: ADITL4 (anything goes, no theme)
August 21st 2000: Self portraits
October 21st 2000: Abstract
December 21st 2000: ADITL5 (anything goes, no theme)
February 21st 2001: Portraits
Further dates to be determined later.

Also, if the one week's notice for the self-portrait theme is deemed too
short, we could set the date for that at the 21st of January.

O.k., as always it will be difficult to please everybody, and it will take a
long time before some of my favourite themes (such as trick pictures) will
take place, but this is what I thought to be the most fair suggestions,
given the results of the poll, and the comments/discussion on the list.

Cheers!
Olafo
