Greetings all,
In 2 weeks I fly out (from Brisbane, Australia) to
Monterey, California for the USENIX conference (1 week), then spend a
week hanging around my company's HQ in Santa Cruz, then fly to
Scotland for 2 weeks (meeting up with my wife in Edinburgh).
This will be the first international trip for both of us. I've taken
heed of the recent customs thread and plan to have a customs agent
witness my list of gear before I leave the country.
We will of course be going berserk with the Olympuses (four of em
counting my wife's MjuII).
In the US I don't have much free time, but I will have a car so plan
to at least visit Point Lobos. Where else could I go?
I suppose I should buy most of my film in the USA---can anyone
advise on good photo stores.
In Scotland we spend a week in Fife (based near Cupar, with side trips
to Edinburgh and the Cairngorms) with some cow-orkers (the whole trip
is a company motivational bonus). Then we strike out on our own for 6
more days, staying at Drumnadrochit (2 nights, near Inverness), John
O'Groats, Orkney (2 nights) and Fort Williom, flying out of Edinburgh
on July 2.
Any pointers on must-see places, must-take gear, and suchlike would be
much appreciated.
