A superwide has more problems than vignetting with a polarizer! Unless
you're doing technical photography with a polarized light source, the 21mm
is so wide that you cannot darken all of your scene at once! You will end
up with an un-natural looking dark band at 90 degrees from the sun.

I made the mistake (on my first ever panorama) of using a polarizer on a
21mm. Even after the stitching software did its magic of blending, you can
clearly see the effect:

The effect isn't so bad when shooting within 90 degrees of the sun, as one
expects the sky to lighten towards the sun. The disorienting part is
shooting away from the sun, and seeing the sky lighten.

I have many single shots that show this effect, too, but none of them are
currently on my web site.

That said, I used Vivitar polarizers that appear to be about 4-5mm thick
with very minimal vignetting on the 21/3.5.
