Hi Bob:

I asked this same question within the past year and the consensus response
was to use a MC filter for any application desired when a filter should or
may be used.

So if you're asking in absolute terms if a MC filter is better, the answer
is yes.  If you're asking whether it is better regardless of the lens on
which it is used, the answer also is yes.
