How about a wanna be person's comment:
Lee has the link to the Popular Photography test on his WWW site. It had
fantastic results with even performance across apertures and hightened
performance wide open over the Canon FD 100mm f/2, which is due to the ED
element. And it focuses to 1:5, making it a poor man's macro. Given that
much small animal macro work is 1:5 to 1:10 (7.5" to 15" long animals), it's
perfect for that, esp. with it's floating elements.
