Hi Buddy,
to me this sounds very much like some sort of microscope adapter. This
'groove/locking screw'-assembly is very common in these applications and the
diaphragm would make sense too. OTOH I don't know of any right-angle microscope
adapter made by Oly, so it might as well be third party.
Just a guess.
